Leon Dance Company Code of Conduct for Customers

At Leon Dance Company, the safety and wellbeing of our students are at the heart of everything we do. Our policies ensure a respectful, supportive, and positive environment for all families and staff.

1. Child Safety and Wellbeing

Leon Dance Company is committed to maintaining a child-safe environment, fully compliant with Working with Children Check requirements as outlined by the Victorian Government. We implement strict policies to protect and support children at all times:

A Safe Environment

  • All staff and volunteers complete mandatory Working with Children Checks and undertake regular training in child protection.

  • Classes are conducted with professionalism, clear boundaries, and respect for students’ wellbeing.

  • Parents are encouraged to discuss any safety concerns with the studio’s designated Child Safety Officer.

Supervision and Access

  • Children under 10 must be supervised by a parent, guardian, or authorised adult before and after their classes.

  • Leon Dance Company staff are responsible for children only during their scheduled class times.

  • Students may not leave the studio premises without explicit parental or guardian permission.

Zero Tolerance for Abuse

  • Leon Dance Company has a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, or any form of abuse.

  • Any concerns or incidents must be reported immediately to the Child Safety Officer or management.

  • All allegations of abuse will be handled confidentially and reported to relevant authorities if necessary.

Photography and Media Consent

  • Photography or filming of students is prohibited unless approved by management.

  • Parents must provide consent for any studio photography or videography featuring their child.

  • Sharing unauthorised photos or videos of other students on social media or public platforms is strictly forbidden.

Interaction Guidelines

  • Parents are not to approach or discipline other students directly; any concerns should be brought to staff.

  • Staff maintain professional boundaries, ensuring all interactions with students are appropriate and respectful.

2. Respect for Others

  • Treat all students, parents, and staff with kindness, courtesy, and respect.

  • Avoid behaviour that is disruptive, disrespectful, or offensive.

  • Support an inclusive and positive atmosphere within the studio community.

3. Commitment to Safety

  • Follow all studio safety protocols and guidelines while on the premises.

  • Ensure younger children are supervised in waiting areas or common spaces.

  • Report any hazards, injuries, or concerns to staff immediately.

4. Communication

  • Use approved communication channels (email, phone, or scheduled meetings) to connect with staff or management.

  • Keep contact details updated to receive important studio announcements and updates.

  • Direct feedback or concerns to management for resolution in a professional manner.

5. Studio Facilities

  • Respect studio property, equipment, and shared spaces, ensuring they are used responsibly.

  • Report any damage or maintenance issues to staff promptly.

  • Encourage students to bring only necessary items to class and to keep their belongings organised.

6. Waiver of Liability

Leon Dance Company aims to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all students. However, by enrolling in classes and participating in studio activities, customers agree to the following waiver of liability:

  • Acknowledgement of Risk: I acknowledge that dance and physical activities carry an inherent risk of injury. Participation is entirely voluntary, and I assume all risks associated with my child’s participation in classes, rehearsals, and performances.

  • Release of Liability: I release Leon Dance Company, its staff, instructors, and agents from any liability for injuries, damages, or losses sustained during classes, rehearsals, performances, or while on the premises, except in cases of gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

  • Medical Authorisation: In the event of an emergency where I cannot be reached, I authorise Leon Dance Company staff to seek medical attention for my child. I agree to bear any costs incurred for such medical treatment.

  • Agreement to Terms: By enrolling my child, I confirm that I have read, understood, and agree to this waiver of liability and all terms outlined in this Code of Conduct.

7. Breach of Conduct

  • Any breach of this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, restricted access, or termination of enrolment.

  • Leon Dance Company reserves the right to act in the best interests of its students and staff to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
